Everyone has the ability to write.
However, a lot of people either don’t want to, can’t find the time, or don’t know where to start.
But it’s something the modern businessperson does every day, either through emails, WhatsApp, or some other form of professional communication. So like it or not, you’ll have to write a fair amount – you just might not realise it.
I love writing. And what’s more, I’ve recently discovered something I love just as much – teaching people how to unleash their inner writer.
Looking back through the last 17 years of my professional career I guess I should have seen this coming. I’ve always craved and loved the feeling of people asking me for my opinion on how to write something, whether or not a written piece sounded good, or just to write something for them.
Back when I was 16, I used to follow Newport Pagnell Town across the county, to watch the games and then write match reports for the programmes. I was honoured to be asked, one season, to appear on BBC Three Counties Radio to talk about the team and their season as I was the one who ‘knew the most about them’ at that time.
Then in my journalism career, I loved talking to work experience attendees about my job and how I wrote and constructed stories.
Finally, as I progressed to being a Copywriter, one of my biggest achievements wasn’t leading a team or writing thousands of product descriptions but taking a colleague/friend on a journey from a different career to becoming a copywriter in their own right – and a good one at that.
It’s one of the reasons why I loved writing my course – The Write Path: Blogging for Beginners, and why I’m now enjoying creating numerous digital downloads in my How to Write series.
I want to help people discover a new skill, or make the most of their inner writing abilities, to maximise the impact they have in their businesses. I want to teach people these skills so that they CAN find the time to write, and it becomes something they WANT to do because their newfound knowledge makes it easier.
I believe that anyone can write. Sometimes, they just need a little direction to unleash their inner writer.
Any questions, come and find me and I’ll be happy to answer.
